I’ve discovered keeping up with a blog is similar to
exercising….you have to be intentional about it and you always feel better
after you have completed the task!
Can you believe we only have 44 days until we depart! The tune
to the song, “Two Tickets to Paradise” keeps running through my head, but
instead I am singing, “One way tickets to paradise!” That part, the one way
part, is really strange to think about. Going and not knowing for sure when you
are returning!
Today we had a fun reminder from God of just how faithful he
truly is! Mike and I were having breakfast here in Albany with our friend from
Uganda, Hudson. He is visiting Oregon for a couple of weeks. He was sharing
with us about his walk of faith and traveling to the USA. He doesn’t plan
things based on his bank account, but rather on the leading of the Lord. When
God says to go somewhere, he goes. He doesn’t always have the funds right when
he thinks he needs them, but they always seem to show up.
Just as he was sharing this with us, a total stranger walks
up to us and asks for Hudson’s name. I can see he has written out a check. He
fills it in with Hudson’s name. As he hands it to Hudson, he says, this is to
fulfill a word you were given and the Holy Spirit told me to give this to you.
It was $100! WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!
Isn’t that amazing! I am expecting more and more “odd”
things like this to continue happening. I don’t want to know the plans I have
for me, but rather, the plans HE has for me. We choose to listen and step out
even when it doesn’t FEEL comfortable. I am fully expecting God to continue to
show up and show off.
More updates soon! Thanks for all the encouragement.

PS -
Here is a short overview of all we’ve been doing!
- We are still packing stuff up. We’ve moved some of our big furniture into storage and our friends who are renting have begun moving some of their things into our house. (We had just finished moving our couch. Mike was taking a rest on the living room floor and of course, he's talking on the phone :))
- Completed our Show Mercy banquet and raised the needed funds to begin construction on the medical clinic in Uganda. So many people volunteered for this event and so many GAVE generously to help make this clinic possible. We are personally blessed to have so many amazing and loving friends and supporters around us. ( I’ll send pictures once we arrive of the progress. Lives are going to be saved!!!!)
- I ordered the homeschool stuff and it’s all here ready to be packed up. It will ONLY take up 3 of our bags!!!!! Books are SO HEAVY.
- Went to Redding California for an amazing time with friends and encouragement. We were able to meet with several people who are interested in Show Mercy. Join with us in prayer as God continues to move on people’s hearts to serve long term with us in Uganda.
- Working on getting shots, passports and necessary documents in order for our move
- Last…we are making a huge pile of stuff we think we want to take to Uganda. Wonder what we will really end up taking over. I’ll let you know what makes the cut.
